New Harvard Provost Alan Garber Visits Harvard Club of Southern California on October 24
Alan M. Garber MD AB '76, AM '77, PhD '82, the
Harvard University Provost, will speak to the Harvard
audience in an interactive conversation with alumni on
Wednesday, October 24 at the Intercontinental Hotel Los
Angeles in Century City. The event, which is Professor
Garber's first alumni event, is jointly sponsored by the
Harvard Alumni Association, the Harvard Club of
Southern California, and Harvardwood.
All alumni are invited to the event, which will
include an interactive conversation about Harvard's 21st
century priorities including:
- edX, Harvard's new online
education initiative;
- the role of the arts at Harvard;
- developments
in Allston;
- the strategic direction of the Harvard
Library;
- and ongoing efforts to make the University more
collaborative for faculty and students.
Garber is the Mallinckrodt Professor of Health
Care Policy at Harvard Medical School, a Professor of
Economics in the Faculty of Arts and Sciences, and a
Professor of Public Policy in the Harvard Kennedy School
of Government. Prior to joining the Harvard leadership in
September 2011, Garber had worked for 25 years at
Stanford University as a faculty member and authority on
health care economics.
