Peter F. Bastone works for the Sisters of St. Joseph as CEO of Mission Hospital.  In this role, he has been the cornerstone of their program since 1996 as head of the 317 bed, Catholic sponsored, regional medical center and trauma center.

Under his nearly 14 years of leadership, he continues to transform a once adequate local hospital serving South OC into an internationally recognized center of excellence as a hospital and an extended delivery network.  The hospital recently received a prestigious award for Traumatic Brain Injury care.  The hospital also has been recognized as one of the nation’s elite performing coronary bypass surgery and heart attack treatment and has been recognized as one of the top community-based trauma centers in the country. 

Peter is a tireless and effective leader and excels at fundraising.  He chairs and serves on numerous boards in Orange County, both medical and civic.  Prior to joining Mission Hospital, Peter was the CEO of Daniel Freeman Memorial Hospital, a Catholic hospital in Inglewood CA sponsored by the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet.

He hails from Chicago and grew up in the local Catholic education system.  He played football at Princeton University and also graduated with honors from with a BA Degree in Psychology.  He holds Masters Degrees in Public Health and Business Administration from UC Berkeley, a Masters Degree in Health Care Mission from the Aquinas Institute of Theology in St. Louis, and a doctorate of Public Health from Williamstown University.
